Animated double whammy for EM.TV

Germany kids' producer EM.TV has picked up distribution rights to the upcoming animated adaptations of Michael Ende's Momo and Astrid Lindgren's Karlsson on the Roof.

The feature film Momo is being produced by German toon studio TFC Trickompany, part owned by EM.TV, with partners Taurus Film and Italy's Lanterna Magica. The theatrical film is due to be released in 2002. Ende's previous children's works include The Never-Ending Story.

Lindgren's Karlsson books are being adapted by Michael Ekbladh, with TFC and Taurus co-producing alongside Svensk Filmindustri. Lindgern's previous children's books include the Pippi Longstocking series.

Both animated projects will be realised as theatrical films as well as 26-part TV series, with both TV series becoming available in 2002
